First Impressions: What to Wear to a Job Interview

So you’ve finally landed the job interview you have been searching for, and now you’re in your closet trying to figure out what to wear! You have most likely heard people say to “dress for success,” and a job interview is certainly the time to do just that! In addition to the experience you bring to the table, you are actually applying to be a representative of the company, so dressing the part is a key factor. As you choose your clothing, keep in mind that you want to look presentable, but not over the top. For example, a man can rarely go wrong wearing a suit and tie, or perhaps at least a nice pair of dress slacks with a button down shirt. Ladies, whether you choose a blouse and slacks or a skirt/dress, dressing modest and professional should be the goal. Employers want to hire people who are put together and presentable to the public. Avoid anything extreme- too tight, low, short, loose, etc. How important is the job to you? If you don’t have time to present your best looking self, the employer may think you won’t spend enough time making sure the job gets done correctly!
